Orthodontic treatment is a long journey, and since children are still growing, it’s important to follow the doctor’s instructions and wear the appliances properly. Otherwise, the teeth may become misaligned again (I know from experience 😅 because I didn’t wear my retainer faithfully).

After more than three years of orthodontic treatment, my teeth are finally perfectly aligned! Because my teeth were quite crooked and I had some bite issues, I was initially told at another clinic that pure orthodontics might not be enough, and that jaw surgery could be necessary.

Before I met Dr. Tseng, I knew that treating an underbite often required surgery, which involves cutting the jawbone—a prospect that can be quite intimidating. I started searching online for non-surgical treatment options and found Dr. Tseng.

The treatment involved extracting the first molars on both sides of my lower jaw and using traditional braces to gradually move the lower teeth backward, closing the extraction spaces completely. This natural approach achieved excellent results for correcting my underbite.

The treatment lasted nearly four years due to the large extraction spaces, but it was absolutely worth it, as it avoided the potential risks of surgery.
